A Fixed Heart

My heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord for all.

Recently, I was doing my daily reading in one of Tozer's writings, and I came across the following verse quote: "My heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord." Frequently, Tozer will not give the verse reference. The verse needed to be found to satisfy my curiosity. Strong's Concordance revealed that there were at least 740 references to the word "heart" in the Bible. I started going through the references, but the reference came out of a KJV. I was pressed for time so I prayed for where to look. A still voice suggested Psalms. I found it in Pslams 112:7, "his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord." The significance of the Psalm is that it addresses the prosperity of the one who fears the Lord. The context is that this individual will not fear evil tidings, his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord, and his heart is upheld, he will not fear. He will not fear false nor true evil tidings as we have seen these past two years. The word "steadfast" suggests prepared, ready, and in arms for all services or standing one's ground. He/she can do so since their confidence is totally in the Lord. "He is our refuge and strength abundantly available in tight places" (Psa. 46:1). Identify your tight places and put your trust in Him!
